Dedicated to my mom who takes me to places

My name is Spencer Baculi and I’m 10 years old and in the fifth grade. On January 10^th, 2001, two friends and I went to see "Dude, Where’s My Car."

It was about 7:00 am when I woke up that morning. The night before, my friend Kyle spent the night. He wasn’t quite awake yet, so I played Madden NFL 2001 for a while. A bit later Kyle woke up. I was happy to see him wake up so that we could start having fun the rest of the day. We played Madden until 8:00 am.

My sister was at school and my mom was at work. So we had the whole house to ourselves! We decided to have breakfast. We both had Lucky Charms. Kyle also had a Poptart. While we were eating my cat, Hazel, knocked over my glass! We just froze looking at what happened. Fortunately it was empty, and it didn’t break. I was glad.

After that, we played Mortal Sledding. It’s a game we made up where you put some sleeping bags on a staircase (preferably velvet and smooth on the outside). Then you use another sleeping bag to sled down. Kyle and I love that game! At the end of the stairs you have to put pillows on the landing spot for safety reasons. We did that. But the heater was on because it was cold, and we had a pillow on the heater.

Kyle and I were sledding down the stairs, when suddenly I hit the heated pillow. I screamed in pain! It was hot and it hurt! (But not really that much.) We decided to go play the computer.

We played Backyard Baseball for 45 minutes. Since it was a one-player game, we took turns. During each turn we weren’t playing, we hosted " Zvivor." It’s a survivor type show where we used my Dragonball Z toys. We each had three turns batting and pitching. We were kind of bored so then we went to my room to play Pokemon Stadium.

While we were playing Pokemon Stadium, we heard the doorbell ring. It was Pia on her scooter. We were surprised to see her. Pia is a girl who goes to my school and lives one block down from me. She wanted to see if we could play. We said, "No," because we hadn’t eaten lunch yet. So we rushed to eat, so that we could play.

We decided to eat sloppy joes. We were frustrated because every time we took the stuff out of the microwave the middle was still frozen. After 30 minutes of cooking the sloppy joe sandwiches, we could finally start eating them. It was really good.

We threw on our jackets and ran out the door. We were running down to Pia’s house. Her grandma said she was playing outside somewhere. We were upset, because we didn’t know the neighborhood. But as we started walking, there she was riding her scooter.

She said, "Hi," and introduced Kyle and me to her friend Mandi. Pia and Mandi were talking, so Kyle and I got a newspaper and wet it in a little stream of water that was going into the gutter, and started throwing it at them. Then we all started to throw the newspaper at each other.

After that we all played Basketball. Mandi and Pia were on one team and Kyle and I were on the other. But Pia was being stubborn and didn’t want to play because she thought she couldn’t play well. So we played without her.

Kyle and I decided to go home, because my mom was about to come home. As we started walking up the street, my mom was walking down the street to pick me up. She said we could see a movie. We said we wanted to see "Dude Where’s My Car". My mom said Pia could come if it was okay with us. My mom said she had already talked to her grandma and got the OK. We thought that was great.

While we were driving to Mission Valley my mom said that my sister, Stephanie, and her were going to see "The Emperors New Groove". We told her that we could watch after each other in the theater. When we got to the theater, we found out that the movies didn’t start for another hour. So we decided to go to my house and wait. But before we left, we all got Pokemon cards.

While we were waiting at my house Pia and Stephanie played with the cats, and Kyle and I played Madden 2001. Then we had to leave, and we all got in the car as fast as we could.

We got back to Mission Valley. My mom and sister’s movie was about to start. So we decided to go look around for half an hour.

Pia wanted to go look for Beanie Babies, But Kyle and I wanted to go look for video games. We argued for 3 minutes. Finally we decided to go look at Beanie Babies, then video games.

We went to a store called Imagination. Pia looked at the Beanie Babies and we looked at all the other stuff. When Pia purchased her Beanie Baby, the cashier asked if we were seeing a movie. We said yeah. We told him we were seeing "Dude Where’s My Car". He said it was really bad. We talked with him for a minute. I was worried that the movie would be a dud. Then we went to see the movie.
