A CAMPING TRIP
By Mary Flagstad
Once my family and I went to a family camp. I had been camping before, but I had never been to a family camp. A family camp is not really going out to the woods, but its like a summer camp with things for the family to do.
So when we finally got there (after singing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" about ten times) we all went to see the cabin we would stay in. The cabin was made out of wood, and it had a big pile of sticks that you could walk into like a dome room. It looked really comfortable and I thought I would like staying in it.
We changed into our swimsuits and then we all went swimming in the pool. The pool was by the main cabin, not that far from our cabin. The lifeguard was really nice. Her nickname was Bluey.
After swimming my brother and I went looking around a bit. My Mom and Dad took a nap while we played outside. When they were done we went to the main cabin and had dinner.
After dinner we went to bed. The beds were bunk beds and they were very comfortable.
I woke up early the next morning, because I was going to learn to ride horses.
I really liked the horse I rode. It was a pretty and very sweet and easy to ride.
Three days went on and we were having a lot of fun.
One day I was looking around when I saw a girl sitting on a rock. The rock was big and I thought I would have a wonderful view of the woods if I went up to sit with her. When I was half way up the rock the girl said, "Hey, you cant come up here."
Now I could see another girl, I was about to ask why when the other girl said, "Ya. This is our rock." I felt disappointed. Then I jumped off and walked away.
The rest of the day was the same. We went to dinner and back to our cabin.
In the morning there was the trail ride, and the students had to wake up early. We got the horses ready and started riding them down a path. We rode for a while until we came to a grassy field. The teacher warned us that the horses eat a lot there. I could hear the horses eating the grass.
When the trail ride was over, we all had a drink and then we went to our cabin.
When I found my mom she told me it was time to go. So we packed up and left. I really liked this trip, and I will never forget it.
