Business Partnerships/Corporate fundraising
Ana is going through the book of LISTS, will have Melinda coach her on a pitch and will put a team together to start knocking on doors. Phil will create a press kit specifically for fundraising and Krista will begin to work on getting some of the childrens original art to go into the kits.
Donna Brown is working on a relationship with the Friends Of Downtown, hoping to get them to host a fundraiser for our benefit.
Darlene provided information on Union Banks foundation, and we are hoping to get a grant from them that might support a teachers salary.
Organize major fundraisers
Sandy and Lance offered the use of the City Front Terraces party area to host a Fine Art Auction as a way to fundraise. A committee was quickly put together to help with this exciting event that will happen in June or July. They will offer us a date at the next meeting, but everyone should start talking to artists that they know, and solicit donations of original art.
Coordinate family donations
Donna Brown suggested an immediate family campaign. 12.50 a week for 8 weeks could bring in around $8,000 if everyone participated. It was decided that a series of letters need to be sent out. One that would outline the Economic Realities that our school faces, the second one would explain our 8 week campaign, and a third will need to go out explaining what we are hoping each family can commit to next year both financially and as volunteers. Valerie agreed to get the first letter out. Donna will work on the second one. It was also suggested that the letters should be mailed out directly to the parents instead of relying on the mailboxes. Remember that we need to make all requests for money specifically from the FRIENDS OF THE MUSEUM SCHOOL. The school itself can not do this.
Other fundraising ideas
Other ideas were thrown around. Remember that we can do all the small fundraisers that we want, as long as someone will take charge of the process and coordinate all the volunteers needed.
One suggestion was to start selling The Museum School imprinted products. Krista is going to talk to Brannan about designing a T-Shirt, Phil will get the current information from Jane and we will discuss this further at our next meeting.
Next Meeting
Thursday, May 19th at 6pm. (Child Care provided at a nominal fee)
