Volunteers:
There are many ways to get involved! Please contact
Rosemary (Lisee's mom) rosemet@cox.net, or Catherine (Basil's mom) 619-546-8186 catherine.martin@cox.net, Erik (Sean's stepdad) eraker@gmail.com if you can help. We have a Breakfast
Club (contact Joe) where parents can help to prepare materials
for our children to learn with, or help with some of the office work.
We also have a fundraising comittee called "Friends
of the Museum School" (click http://friendsofthemuseumschool.org/ to get more current updates of activities). Join the Yahoo group to facilitate communication and planning for our "Friends of the Museum School'. Just click! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/museumschool/
There are all sorts of programs to sign up with (eg. Target Visa, Albertsons e-scrip. Office Depot, etc), that will help our school fundraising and are relatively painless. Please let us know if you have some other ideas.
We need grant writers, people who can help make phone calls and work on a development plan, classroom help in material preparation, chaperones, drivers, volunteers in all areas at whatever level you can participate. Our parents make a huge difference! Budgets are even tighter. We are looking for parent and community support in order to maintain our wonderful programs and cover the gap between state support and the school's per child cost. Get involved and help keep our programs running!
Friends
of Museum School -fundraising commitee
Our school has a wonderful program full of terrific
educational oportunities. We thank all our parents and community friends who
have helped us maintain our programs as state funds dwindle. Especially considering
our small school size, we have done a great job this year raising funds towards
our deficit. We still need to raise about $15,000.00 more. Come to the meeting
to find out how you can help.

Breakfast Club
Hello. My name is Joe Nagase, a native of Japan, and I am the proud parent of my only child, Jack, a third grader here at the Museum School. I was asked to talk about the Breakfast Club, which is a volunteer group of parents who help the teachers copy the class materials and tests, and to chaparone the kids on their field trips.
The Breakfast club members also help maintain the school library by categorizing, stamping and shelving the donated books. Also YMCA's 6-6 programs, which provides us, free of charge, the day-care service before and after school, might need a helping hand when their staff is short-handed.
There is also Friends & Family Night, a yearly fund-raising get-together, which serves dinner, sodas, drinks etc, and we need lots of volunteers to staff the event.
What I am saying is we, the Museum School community, need your kind help. The Museum School is a chartered, small school with big ideas, but with a limited budget. We have only one half time school administrator; and that is that. It is why the Breakfast Club needs more members. Of course I understand not everyone can volunteer his or her precious time, the commodity some of us have very little of. So If I cannot urge you to join the Breakfast Club, may I urge you to sign up, and come to the Parent Council meeting? You could learn about the many other on-going activities here at the school. Parent participation is the most important thing for the Museum School, and your own kids' education.
Thanks
