Festivities will begin that Friday at 11:00 with department presentation. Then we will share some food that our cooking department students have learned to make. After lunch, we will dance and listen to our gamelan orchestra until about 2:00 pm. We think this is a great way to end our second quarter. We hope you will join us, and please feel free to bring any "offerings" that you might like to share as well (kind of like pot-luck).
The Balinese Odalan is a festival which commemorates the anniversary or birthday of a temple or school. In Bali, the whole community comes together bringing baskets of food and flowers to make offerings and invite the gods and godesses to bestow their blessings. Since our school is coming up on its one year building anniversary, we think it is appropriate that on March 24th, 2000 we ask all good spirits to join us in our Odalan celebration. Students will present their department learnings, and have a Balinese dance and gamelan recital for our celebration.

Here are some of our Odalan Department projects:
Video department made a PSA.
PR/Student Store wrote a press release for Odalan.
Cooking department made some delicious Balinese food with Ibu Putu.
Woodshop learned how to make Balinese style instruments.
Travel worked with Pak Bob and learned about traveling to Bali.
Cultural arts learned how to make some beautiful Balinese decorations from ibu Kaori.
Pak Sumandhi worked with our Theater/Puppet department to do a shadow play.
