Dear Parents:
Because of our status as a Charter School, and the funding model we are using to survive, please remember that school attendance is very, very important! Even if your child has a medical or dental appointment during the school day, we would all appreciate it if your child could attend at least part of the day, or consider moving the appointment to the minimim day in the afternoon. Not only is it a good habit for your child, it is good for the whole school! If you are going to be out of town, please contact Jane in the office for a homework contract.
Thanks for your understanding and assistance with this important issue.

We hope that all the information on our website is accurate, but since this is a part of our ongoing learning, we hope you will let us know if you see anything on our site that we can improve.

As you may have notice, this is a huge project to upkeep. We are always looking for volunteers to help manage and prepare the data for the site. If you are interested, please contact Gingerlily.

Ongoing:

Wish List Every school requires a steady stream of consumable supplies, and ours is no exception. Here is a list of donations that are needed, and any help is appreciated.

Fundraising The Museum School has an ongoing need for fundraising, in order to provide the sort of projects that make our school unique. These are activities that rarely fit into a traditional school program, and never fit into traditional budgets. Current programs include Keychains with Museum School Logo, and CUSTOM LICENSE PLATE FRAMES that say "Learning for Life" and"The Museum School", available from North Park Trophy & Award (order forms at the school, or call 619/293-7333).
Target Stores allows their credit card and gift card shoppers to designate a school to receive a small percentage of anything you spend there and with other vendors. The Museum School is school number 113036. Consider signing up next time you go to Target! It's free to participate, and an easy way to contribute to our school. We also encourage our friends and families to designate the Museum School as on your Washington Mutual debit card. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. Click here to view information on corporate fundraising

Friends & Family Night-
Thursday, Nov. 15th
It was wonderful to see all of you at Friends and Family Night. Many thanks to all the volunteers, donors, and participants who made our event such a success! Our fun filled evening featured some wonderful student performances, dinner, a Silent Auction with the most incredible baskets, a 50-50 Opportunity Draw, a Live Auction, games, and the best part was seeing all our friends and families having a good time together.

We are humbled by your generosity and enthusiasm.

Gamelan and Dance:
Alex is working with the students on Gamelan on Fridays after school. In the Spring of 2002 our school was recognized and given a Best Practice Award . Our dear friend Dr. Bob Brown passed away on Tuesday-November 29, 2005
Bob Brown was a great friend and inspiration to us all.  He touched so many of our lives and made them rich and full of music and wonder. In honor of Bob who brought World Music to our school, the Gamelan has taken a new name. Formally Puspa Warsa will now call themselves "Giri Nata", translation- "Mountain Sage", for the great man who loved his Flower Mountain in Bali, and shared that love of education and music with so many people all around the world. (see our Museum School program)

Advanced Gamelan
In addition to the regular music classes on Wednesdays and Fridays during the school day, Alex teaches advanced gamelan classes each week on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00. The Balinese Dalang Sumandhi, who started teaching gamelan at the school in 1999, named the group of Museum School performers "Puspa Warsa". In November 2005, the group renamed themselves "Giri Nata" (trans."Mountain Sage") in honor of Bob Brown who brought World Music to our school. This group continues to perform around San Diego, and was featured in the Asian Story Theater production SunDance, and 2008's Sea Monster at the Lyceum Theatre. ************************************
