More on Electric Cars:
Bevan Johnston from the Society of Automotive Engineers
(SAE) will be demonstrating a remote control, paintball shooting, model tank!
This is a kick-off for the SAE's Electric Challenge,
which provides kids with kits to build their own battery-powered model car.
There is a $6 charge for any students to buy the kit. The kits include the following:
motor, motor mounting bracket, battery holder, two AA batteries, battery pigtail,
four wheels, four tire treads, two steel axles, motor drive gear, three driven
gear ratios, on/off slide switch, plastic spacer tube for the axles. If enough
do, we may be able to have an after-school club where participants can work
together. On May 5, there is a competition at La Jolla High School, with trophies
for fastest car, best craftsmanship, and best replica of an existing vehicle.
(There are separate competitions for elementary, middle, and high schools kids.)
To buy the kits, send $6 or a check made out to "SAE".
