Barracuda
By Cameron

One of the fish that you might catch on the peir is the barracuda.

The barracuda (also called the tiger of the sea) is one of the many fish that you can catch in the San Diego Bay.  They became popular in fishing during the 1940’s, just after World War II.  They are known for a strong bite and they were fished for food, but went out of style when people started to eat shark.

Barracuda are also a good source of Omega-3.  This fish has been fiercely hunting in the ocean for 50 million years.  Their hunts are so fast you can barely see it.  They are good hunters because of their long thin shape, which lets them glide through the water and between coral.  The barracuda can grow up to 6 feet long and weigh over 100 pounds. Along with a lot of fish, the barracuda is a vertebrate.
